Basel is located in the heart of Europe, where Germany, France and Switzerland meet and where the Black Forest, Vosges and Jura mountains intersect.
With close to 200’000 inhabitants, Basel is one of Switzerland’s largest cities. It offers a unique range of culture and art and possesses one of Europe’s most attractive and best-preserved Old Towns. Along with its social dynamism and innovative economy, Basel is a lively border town, with a strong traditional base rooted in its 2000 year old history. Both its historic townscape and modern architecture are part of Basel’s living present.
