All participants are invited to submit abstracts on one of the topics listed below for presentation at the 2nd EFCAP Congress.
Abstracts may only be submitted via internet. In order to standardise the abstract layout we ask you to read the preparation guidelines CAREFULLY!
Guidelines for submission of abstracts
- Abstracts may be submitted via internet only. Abstracts submitted via fax or e-mail will not be accepted.
- For topics 1 to 8, including International symposia, all abstracts must be submitted in English. Other languages are allowed for the category “Other symposia” (please refer to point 12 of the Guidelines).
- All abstracts containing data must follow a four-step structure:
- Background
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusion
- The abstract text may not be longer than 2’500 characters, including spaces. Tables, charts and other graphics are permitted and must be in JPG or GIF format and of high resolution – a separate upload button is provided (max. 2 graphics per abstract).
- All abbreviations must be defined the first time they appear in your text (but, do not define in the title).
- Authors should indicate their presentation preference:
- oral / poster presentation
- poster only
- After having submitted your abstract, you will receive a confirmation by e-mail with your personal access codes (please make sure to state your correct e-mail address!). Should you wish to make corrections to an abstract already submitted or if you wish to submit other abstracts later, you may use your personal access codes. Corrections to abstracts can only be made up to the deadline of 14 April 2010. If you do not receive a confirmation by e-mail within two hours, please contact the Abstract hotline.
- Abstracts will be subject to a peer review by the International Scientific Committee.
- Authors will be notified of acceptance in May 2010 by email.
- If an abstract is accepted, the presenting author must register and attend the congress before 27 May 2010 or advise us of withdrawal by this date. Registration ensures publication. Authors with accepted abstracts are entitled to the early registration fee if registered before 27 May 2010.
- International symposia
An International symposium should represent results of one or several study groups cooperating together and from different countries. Such forum aims to all scientists in order to offer them the opportunity to present their work in a specific field.
It is possible to submit an entire symposium consisting of 3 or 4 abstracts.
After having successfully completed your online submission (under topic “International symposia”), we would need to receive your application per email with the following information:- Title of the International symposium
- First- and sirnames of suggested conveners (2 chairs preferred)
- Number, title and authorship (first- and lastname, city, country of all authors) of each submitted abstracts
- allocation and length of abstracts
- a short summary of the symposium’s issue
- Masterclass(es) and Workshops
There will be a masterclass for students and young researchers which will offer them the opportunity to present their work and discuss it with senior researchers. If you are interested in submitting an abstract for the masterclass, please contact the Abstract hotline.
The congress language will be English. As a gesture to our German-speaking Swiss and German guests, however, all the keynote lectures shall be simultaneously translated into German.
Furthermore a few symposia are to be held either in German, French or Italian. Please submit your abstracts and choose the topic according to the preferred language: Other symposia (Deutsch) / Other symposia (Français) / Other symposia (Italiano). All accepted abstracts will be published as submitted. You will be informed of your session and presentation in the acceptance letter.
Should a symposium be rejected, all related abstracts will still be considered for the final programme.

Publication
All accepted abstracts will be published in the Final Programme which will be handed out to all registered participants at the congress.
Poster prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the presenting authors of the three best posters.
